 Valerie Leftman's boyfriend brings a gun to school and kills six students and a teacher. He also leaves many wounded, including Valerie, who is shot while trying to make him stop shooting.
I highly recommend this novel! It was sad in spots (make sure you have tissues on hand for the last few chapters) but it also offered fascinating insight into how teens and the adults around them all cope with bullying, trauma and guilt. Really, this is a must read if you at all enjoy realistic fiction.
